Melissa was born on May 5, 1980,
and was a much anticipated addition to our family. She
was our first child and what a delightful baby she was.
She would play in her crib for an hour at a time when she
first awoke in the mornings! As she grew it became
apparent that she was a very caring, and compassionate young
lady; a steadfast, true friend. She was also a bit of
a worrier, especially during bad weather. We were
convinced she would become a meteorologist! However,
she chose a different path and became a teacher, just like
her mom. Looking back it is clear that teaching was a
profession she had been preparing for all her life.
She was always playing school, with her as the teacher and
her little sister as the pupil. Mel taught math at Sprayberry High School in Cobb County
for three and a half years before deciding to try working in
the business world. She is now working as the owner's
assistant at J. Chistopher's Restaurant.

Growing
up, Melissa enjoyed swimming in the summer on the Cedar
Forks Gator Swim Team and at Swim Atlanta, where she swam
all year long. When in high school she was on the Pope
High School Swim Team. She also loved horses and took
lessons at the stable in Fox Hollow before they tore it down
to build more houses. She rode hunt seat and even won
first place at a horse show she entered. Her best
extra curricular activity, though, was playing the piano.
She took lessons for eleven years. I love to hear her play. It's
absolutely beautiful!

On
June 4, 2005, Melissa began the next chapter of her life
as she and Jeremy Blair, her boyfriend of four years, tied the
knot. They were married at the Beachview Club Hotel on
Jekyll Island, Georgia. It was a beautiful wedding
with a fun party afterwards. We are so excited to
welcome Jeremy into our family! It feels like he has
been a member for years already!

Melissa is a wonderful daughter. She is thoughtful and
always there to help when you need her. She is a
diligent, hard worker at everything she strives to do.
But best of all, Melissa is a good friend! We have lots
of fun together. I feel very blessed to have her as my
daughter!
